Default new to the forum

I have been lurking the last couple of days. I sold my 2009 BMW K1300S just last month because of medical reasons. Once I get cleared by my cardiologist, I plan on getting another bike probably towards the second half of the year. Before the K bike, I had a Ducati 1098, a BMW R1200s and a Ducati S2R. I am leaning on getting either a ducati 1199 or the S1000RR. To those who have experienced riding/sitting on a ducati 1098/1198, how does the S1000rr compare in regards to riding position? Is it about the same? Is the 1098/1198 more extreme? I can't find a dealer in my area which has a 1098/1198 and an S1000rr to compare these 2 bikes.

The Duc is much more extreme. Of all the sportbikes I have owned the BMW is by far the most comfy. And if you put Heli-bars on..... (i don't have them on mine but a buddy does)

Go to a dealer when you get a chance and sit on one. If you want comfort you will never swing your leg over a Duc again.

IMO.

How about the mirrors on the S1000RR? Can you see anything what's behind you? Mirrors on the 1098 are just for decoration.

Well the mirrors work but I think that is an issue on all sport bikes. Yes a little tuck of the elbow may be needed at times. I do know of a guy that got some nice looking extenders on his bike and he loves them. For me the view was much better then what I'm use to so I don't complain. But I suppose there is room for improvement.
