Samco Hose Kits
Has anyone installed a Samco hose kit? If so, besides the looks did it make a diffrence with the cooling of the bike?

PM TJ over at Rider's Discount. They put them on their race bike --> Riders Discount S1000 RR Race Bike
My gut feeling is that you won't notice much (if any) difference but you will have peace of mind... and they do look cool

I was really looking for the average riders experience and not a salesman's pitch.
I have noticed that my S1000 runs hot IMO. It runs hotter allot quicker than my 08 600RR. If there is no airflow that motor gets hot quick, even on the highway at 55 mph in close traffic that bike seems to run hot. It will cool down when I have no traffic infront of me and have clean air. No, I'm not riding too close to the car in front of me. Hot to me is over 200F.
Will the Samco help out with this?
What kind of temps are you guys running in traffic? Do you think your bike runs hot?

Like I said, PM TJ over at Rider's Discount. Yes, his job is to sell parts. But no, he's not going to risk his integrity to feed you a line of BS to sell you something that in the end only stuck $20-$30 (guess) in their bank account.. He's a standup guy, shoots straight, I know him quite well... rest assured he will answer your questions from the perspective of - if you should buy them for the purpose you're looking for. He's talked me out of buying PLENTY of stuff (that RD sells) in the past
As far as temps... the highest I've personally seen is in the low/mid 220's. I've heard of some hitting mid/upper 220's. These are normal temps.

BTW, you may see higher temps (on average, not overall) also if you're still running the stock exhaust. That cat puts off quite a bit of heat down there!! I'm not running the stock exhaust.

Here, I just got done talking w/TJ.... I asked him about the hoses... here's his response:
"Hoses wont help lower the heat but they will stand up to the heat better than the oem hoses. Biggest help will come from adding more fuel to the bike as it runs pretty lean stock."

I agree with both the hose comment and the cat heat. My bike ran in the 210-225 range w/stock exhaust. Now runs sub 200 in the cool weather. Of course its not stock anymore. Never thought about it. My RC runs hotter. And comparing a 6 to a 1k isn't fair.

Ok, thanks for the info about the hoses. I'm still running the stock exhaust with a Arrow slip on. I can get the Arrow header to make it a full system. I just installed a PCV. When it gets warmer I'm going to ride and see if the PCV made a difference. I also have a -1 front sprocket I may put on later. I want to see what each mod is doing to the bikes before I add more mods on. Thanks for the help with the heat question.

Well with the PC you can take out some of the leanness (hummm how should I say that?) Which should lower heat. The front sproket will cause the bike to be slower top speed but will help keep the front end down.

A "-1" will indeed decrease your top end a little, but not help keep the front end down.
