Exclamation Hot Bodies Under tail Kit Installation (Need Help!!)

Hello Guys,

I need some major help here. I bought myself a new widescreen and fender eliminator kit for my 2011 BMW S1000RR. The windshield was a piece of cake. However the under tail kit was a different story. I was able to take everything apart like the directions showed me too. The wiring is where I messed up I believe. Not only did the blinkers not work at first try, I then shorted out my bike. ( I think I may have blew a fuse) - easy fix i hope.

I later read on hotbodies website that I needed an OEM BMW 4 pin connector, PN#83300413584 which I found on a BMW parts website. Did you have to use this when re-wiring your rear blinkers and license plate light? This did not come with the parts from hot bodies.

I have rewired a 2007 Honda CBR 1000RR in the past and was able to splice the wires reconnect them no problem using the hot bodies kit. This is a totally different story. Also what is this error message you talk about on your panel? Is this something i need removed by BMW dealer?

Please help if you can. Send pictures if you have them.. I'm stumped.

Not sure about the 4 pin connector that they are telling you that you need.

The error code you will probably get when you have it all wired in may or may not come on in the dash. It will read "lamp" where the temperature usually is. This can happen when installing LEDs instead of incandescent lights on the S. If there are no resistors installed from the HotBodies kit it will probably show up in the dash. The LED turn signals may also cause it to happen--if not the proper resistance. Flash rate may be affected also--blink too fast.

The error can be overridden with the BMW shop computer. It disables the error message so if any lights are out it won't tell you so always check your lights if you have it disabled. It will cure the flash rate as well.

You can also put the bike in "SLICK" mode and it is disabled but I don't think most people ride in slick mode all the time.

Not sure how much the dealer will charge you. Can be done in 15 minutes or so--the lamp light that is.

The pin connector just makes it easier if to connect and disconnect the undertail piece without have to splice into the wiring harness (just plug and go)
