Talking Getting 2012 S1000RR next month!

Hello guys! I rode a f800r for about a year and decided to test ride a 2011 SKRR and was amazed at how unbelievably smooth of a ride it was even at low revs. I honestly got tired of the f800r a little too quick but I knew it would only be temporary anyways. Only thing that I noticed was my thighs heating up in traffic during the test ride, otherwise it was almost seemless. The quickshifter was a nice feature that make an almost orgasmic shifting sound when you use it. Rain mode made it easy to lump around town on it when I wasnt on the highway using sport mode. Coming off a naked middleweight street bike with 90 hp to 150 hp in rain mode made be a believer in this bike. I also went to the international motorcycle show and seen a 2012 SKRR with Nate Kern there as well. He told me all of the new features on the new model. I especially like the etched RR logo on the windshield. I just wish they had a solid pearl white like they did last year but i decide to get black, I dont like the blue they chose too much even though its my favorite color. Now insurance, for me no tickets and no accidents at my age gets me around 300$ for 6 months which is a sweet deal and only a few bucks more than my previous bike. Now its a waiting game but a sweet one at that.

Good deal! Make sure to post up pics when you get it!

I haven't seen the RR windshield.

Congradulations on the purchase. Be careful jumping from a 90 hp bike to a 193 hp bike. rain mode is like a 750 with a dulled thottle response. Once you put the thing into sport or race mode you are in full power and the throttle repsonse is much better. Just take it slow and you will enjoy the bike.

where are you located? i am in michigan, i placed my deposit on my 2012 s1k about 2 weeks ago.

they said that they are expecting the first batch of bikes in feb sometime, but before they told me that they said anytime from feb till june depending on what you get on it. they also said the first bikes are "performance package" so it comes with everything (tc, abs, quick shifter) minus the grips and alarm.

i was told they would let me know when bmw is going to put my bike into manufacturing and then when its being worked on and then finished, then on the way to the US and when its going to the dealer. hopefully they are not just giving me lip service on that but its what i was told. it would be great to get the bike sooner but i cant ride it till like late march anyways (damn salt).

believe it or not it has only about 20nm of torque more than the f800r so that means its not too much of what I am used to. The horse power on the other hand will take a little bit to get used to. I am always super cautious on public roads and canyons plus I took both the basic rider course a little more than year ago and the sport rider course from MSC. I may take a class at the california super-bike school in march since the have a 2 day course. They help allot. Now if you look at the front fairing on the windshield ( i hope that what the call it lol, my f800r had a "fly screen") there is a RR logo etched into it towards the right side of the bike near the instrument cluster. Just find a photo from the front. Also it has little "winglets" on the sides of the front fairing to channel air around you. Thanks guys

I bought mine in southern California, the dealer said there would be a launch announcement a week or so before they arrive. For now she said that they may be filling up a where-house in new jersey to meet demand or still manufacturing them for now. She cant give me anything because they really don't have much info from BMW. I'm waiting anyways for the military discount or free "safety package" promo that I passed on last year, I needed riding time on my old bike anyways. Supposedly for military its only 1 discount for 1 bike per year, the safety package (dtc, abs) was FREE last year for military which took a good amount off the price plus i think the discount. The navy actually recommends the s1000RR for a bike because of all the safety systems built into it, that's from a navy safety magazine.

Congrats! You'll need a bigger helmet to fit the smile you're going to have!
