Unhappy My story with the Wheelspeed Sensor wire

I want to share my story with you, especially those whom will fit front straps or will work by their own on the front brake system.

I installed Brocks Performance (Radial Mount Front End Lowering Kit) front strap system to use it on the drag to lower my center of gravity for quicker ET's by preventing wheelies.

I used it on the drag with good results, it lowered my time from 10.5 to 10.1 with no other mods.

When I started the drag race tests, I noticed a burning smell but I thought it was maybe from the clutch or the drifting event going on outside the drag circuit LOL, but I was skeptical about it. To add some confusion to the matter, I noticed that when I disabled the traction control, the ABS soon disabled itself and I couldn’t active it or both of them unless I switch off the bike, so every time I switch off the bike to cool down, the scenario would repeat it self!!! I though maybe the straps were putting a lot of pressure on the brake sensors that may caused this thing, but even after I finished the drag runs and loosen the straps and headed back home, I had no ABS or traction!!

The next day while I was checking the bike, by chance I noticed that a wire was literally touching the front tire and wheel and it was the Wheelspeed Sensor wire that was hanging out of its clamp!!! It scratched the outer lip of the front BST wheel and the area of it where it was touching the wheel and tires got slashed off and this caused the malfunction of the ABS & Traction control system

The cause of this could be that the person who installed the straps forgot to put the wire back in its clamp, because I doubt that when pulling the bike down with Brocks straps, it would cause the Wheelspeed Sensor wire to pop out of its place, but I’ll make sure next time that I’ll tie it to the fixed brake line wire next to it, instead of depending on the small BMW clamp that used hold it in its place.

Best regards.

Wow that sucks and sorry to hear of your misfortune. I would not be so concerned with the wire or the tire, but marring up that BST, that would send me ballistic.

I've had that wire come adrift while washing the bike so you need to check it occasionally....
