bike turns off.. doesn't start up
ruined a perfectly good track day. clueless what happened?
was riding for 20 minutes in my first session (first track day for this bike).. third gear everything fine.. bike just turns off and doesn't turn on again. Everyone is puzzled.
Situation: switches on, lights up, ignition clicks. but doesn't start up. engine light flashes.
bike a year old
battery is in good condition (tried starting it with other batteries)
no tampering with wiring (apart from R&G plate holder)
Ridiculous.
Although the warranty is covering this, I'm disappointed such an expensive high performance bike would just "die" like that.

Ignition problems maybe? I took a test ride on a ducati 999 recently and in a straight line at 60 km/h it just lost throttle response... engine broke for 50m then compression went away and I was gliding. After about 40 seconds I was able to refire the bike though but it happened again twice more in the 3 or so minutes it took to get back to the dealer. Turned out it was a loose wire in the ignition.

when you say ignition clicks, are you talking about the fuel pump turning on that you're hearing? or are you hearing a relay click when you hit the start button? if it's the latter, i don't think it'd be the kill switch, or the relay shouldn't click i don't think. doubting starter switch/solenoid/starter as none of those would've caused it to die. Maybe a kickstand sensor would cause the death, but not the failure to start assuming it's in neutral. can't just be spark to the engine, or the starter would turn over...

I believe one of our members had something just like this happen and the end result was not good... engine.
Another I believe had this and it was an electrical gremlin.
Good luck, keep us posted on what the dealer comes back with to get you up and going.

Could be your wiring in the R& G tail tidy, possibly.
Did you check all the fuses?

try not to worry too much, prob isnt the engine on yours and besides it would mean a brand spanking new engine, throw on some new suspension and you have basically a brand new bike

Put the bike in 6th gear and try to "bump" it over a bit. If the tire doesn't turn could be a seized motor. If it does turn then it is something else.
