Best time of the year to buy/reasonable price?
I'm looking to get a 2012 s1000rr sometime soon and I'm looking for some input as far as when to buy and what an acceptable price is.
Should I buy now, or in jan or feb, or wait till summer?
Will there be any flexibility as far as price goes for the 2012s or do people generally pay MSRP or more?
Thanks in advance for the help

In my opinion, right now would be the best time to buy. The bike hasn't even began production yet, and lots of dealers slow down in sales during the winter months. The longer you wait, the closer to full retail price you'll pay. If you live somewhere that has a warm climate year round then expect to pay full price, if you live somewhere that has cold and snowy winters (like me) then I would expect more of a deal.
I just put down my deposit this weekend and signed a contract. I originally had a virble agreement with my dealer and had already been givin a price. When I went to make it official this weekend and lay down some dough, he actually gave me a even better deal (I had sent some business his way).
The msrp of the bike I wanted was 16,245 + 495 destination charge + 130 for documentation fee = $16,870
I got it for $15,895 (all fees included except tax and title)
I also got him to hook me up on my first service. It's normally 250+, I'll be getting mine done for less then 200.
If you wait till summer I would be shocked if you managed to get any kind of deal.

While you wait, I'll be riding!
Bikes make a horrible investment commodity. Don't buy to save, buy to ride.

Nice deal Nitro!!! Ross, everything Nitro said is spot on...this bike is SMOKIN hot and they can't keep it in the shops as it is..if you live where it's freezing cold, thats just about your only hope. Also to add, it's more important to not wheel & deal SO much that you end up pissing your dealer off to the point where they hate dealing with you off the bat. These are people you want on your side in the long run..haha. Cheers!

Good advice, thanks guys. I live in Denver so its definitely cold and snowy here right now. Sounds like that is the perfect climate to buy a bike in. I already have a relationship with the sales manager at my local BMW dealer, so I am hoping he can cut me a deal.
Nitronut, do you have an ETA for your bike?

For a "deal"... you might think outside the box. Get 2yrs worth of 30% off gear, apparel, and parts. Or maybe 35% off 2yrs worth of service if you don't do it yourself. Or maybe the first 3 services free. Or maybe they throw in a helmet. Most dealers aren't dealing too much if any on the price of the bike. So think about what you might be satisfied with and maybe work on some "after the fact deals" with your dealer.
Waiting isn't gonna help you though.... these things are just gonna sell.

Yeah thats kinda what I was thinking. It does not seem like this bike has much wiggle room for price, but I will definitely be buying some gear and parts after the fact so that will play into where I buy.
Say I order one in the next few weeks, what would the ETA be on the bike? When are people expecting to get them?

I thought someone said February-ish in a recent post. But that would depend on your Dealer's allotment and where your fall (what order #) within their current 2012 orders. The sooner you get in and sign, the sooner you get on and ride

I haven't got anything solid for a delivery date but my dealer told me late JAN/early FEB. I am currently #2 on the list for the 2nd best BMW dealership (in sales numbers)...so I'm crossing my fingers for JAN. At the International bike show last weekend (Long Beach, CA), there were several promo pamphlets being handed out stating..I'll quote it..
"Available in JANUARY 2012 at your participating Southern California BMW Motorcycle Dealer"
...That's good enough for me!!
