Default Ohlins damper

I am waiting on new damper that I ordered last week. I am curious about what I need to do in regards to installation. Does fairing need to be removed or can it be installed from underneath by removing fender and plastic guard above it? I'd appreciate help from someone who has installed one.

The damper is a very easy and fast install. Just work from underneath. If I remember correctly, there is only 1 small plastic plate you will need to remove. In fairness, I did remove my front fender so there was no chance of scratching it.

Good luck. A great upgrade you will feel immediately.

Correct, just the one plastic plate to remove. Mud guard is easy to remove if you wish to avoid scratching.

What is the reason you guys are replacing the OEM unit?

Are you really getting that much headshake and/or tankslappers?

I could perhaps see doing so if you were primarily tracking or racing the bike; not so much for the street. The OEM unit seems to work fine for me there...

I replaced mine because i had a bad, almost lost it moment when i had my 848, didnt come with a unit. put on an ohlins, it saved my but a few times

now i wont ride hard without an ohlins unit on it.

the stock is good im sure, but its not great. and after going through what i did on the duck. 300 bucks well spent to switch it out.

Damper to frame - 19nm or 14ft lbs

Damper to fork - The stock bolt is 8mm which torques the same as the damper to frame but the Ohlins uses a 6mm bolt, I used 8ft lbs

The damper mounting clamp screws are 6nm or 4.4ft lbs or 53in lbs.

Don't have to be on the track to get head shake. I like the adjustability of the ohlins.

I can get a deal on a new one for anyone.
