Default Finish under winter usage

I'm curious as to how the S1000RR bears up under poor conditions/winter usage. Knowing that some of you guys have really extreme winter conditions and the bike is now a few years old, I hoped to get an idea of what they are like in general.

I know about ACF-50/FS365 etc and use them, along with a clean after every ride in poor conditions using SDOC 100, so will do all I can. Obviously that's futile if the screws are made of poor quality metal/with no protective plating to begin with and will go furry in no time...

I have found road salts don't affect sportbike parts. The harsh soap at car washes are another story: they corrode and seize bolts and electrical connections with a tell-tale white powder.

The only winter gotchya is our batteries have a life of about three years. The first cold day at three years and it's a no start.

I can say that the salt and grit used here in the UK does corrode stuff like crazy. I believe it really is salt, as opposed to a chemical equivalent.

Definitely agree on batteries - a motorbike battery is obviously smaller than a car one, so even more susceptible to failing. An Optimate is a brilliant investment for that
