How tall are you?

I'd love to see the pict of someone tall on the bike to get a sense of how big it is (more like a R6 or an R1).

Alas I am a short guy. But I think I can find some one in the 6' range to throw a leg over.

It's about the size/fit of a CBR1K.

False. BMW factory support will modify bars, tank, seat pad, subframe, tail fairing, and rearsets to accomodate Mr. Xaus. Looking at Ruben on the bike won't really be an accurate representation of how average joe six foot four will fit on the production bike.

I'm 6'4" and would also like to see how a big guy fits the bike. Thanks for getting the goods Snocompton. here's a few things I'd like details on if you can snap a shot and make a note:

+ There appears to be a composite shroud that fits from the top outside of the tank down to the center of the bike. As this is an impact zone, some manufacturers are making note of this and using frameslider type materials that will absorb some impact. This is very apparent on the new KTM, it literally has replaceable pucks. Can you take a look at what BMW has done here, and give us your impression on how "Stout" they are, and what BMW may have intended (cosmetic or functional)?

+ Also on the top front of the tank, there apppears to be a raised "bracket" sort of thing.... no guess as to what it is.....

+ Can you get good up close shots of the front and rear suspension adjustments including ride height, H/L comp, and reb in rear.

+ Can you get a snapshot of the rear axle, and make an assertion to ease of tire changes?

+ Can you please steal the key, fight off the BMW ambassador, take off like a madmen (for good measure, yell something like "Hahaha, bitches"), get her up to 150MPH, close your eyes and grab an assful of the front brake to test out the ABS? :-) ...... Did it work?

Thanks again man, we anxiously await your report!

What are you looking for, and have you checked out the hires press photos? The suspension adjustments are exactly where most bikes have them, and work the same except they have little surrounds with numbers on them so you can keep track. The rear ride height is controlled by an asymmetric insert at the upper shock mount - it can be flipped over to get 10mm of height adjustment, and my dealer said that another insert came with the bike, so you can mix and flip them to get different increments. The rear shock spring mount uses a single ring with a clamp bolt to adjust preload, instead of two jam rings.

The rear axle has an exceptional amount of adjustment travel, purportedly to allow for wheelbase adjustment in conjunction with the adjustable swingarm pivot (which looks exactly like the GSX-R's). However, this isn't a dynamic adjustment, the chain will have to be lengthened/shortened a link pair to make full use of it. I didn't see anything about the rear axle that made it look different than any typical Japanese bike to R&R. Bike comes with spool holes and spools.

I didn't pay special attention to the gas tank covers, I'll see the bike again on Sep. 5. There is a front plastic cover in front of the filler cap that covers the ECU, I believe - similar to the K-bikes.

I think the front piece on the tank you are referring to is a trim piece which will actually cover the airbox. I don't think the fuel tank goes all the way up to the front of the bike where the frame comes together at the steering head. The tank will actually end a little bit in front of the filler and drop off and down. This makes room for the airbox and fuel rail and other goodies. It gives more volume for the airbox and a straighter shot into the engine for better performance. Towards the rear of the bike, right before the seat, the tank goes down further than the frame sides, making room to hold 4 or more gallons of fuel. It's a similar design to the new K1200 bikes and most of the Japanese bikes as well.

You are some what correct. The tank doesn't go all the way forward. The Ram air actually passes through the frame into the airbox which is located a little lower down. In front of the tank under a panel held by a handful of torx is the brains of the operation. The electronics, which contain the spot to plug the laptop in and get your information.

I did snap a ton of pictures, alot of close ups. I've got to get them hosted and posted so I'll do that very soon.

EDIT: one for now. The tank panel I was referring to. A little blurry though.
