2014 HP4 Few quick questions

First i just ordered my 2014 hp4 comp and as i got my deposit receipt i said " so i got one the hp4 comp" she said yes and i said just like that one right (there was one in the stealership) she said " yes as long as BMW doesnt change the colors.
I was like what are you talking about. She said she didnt hear of anything. so my question is has anybody heard that they may change the color pattern for 2014.

My next question is from what i read it comes with castrol 5w40. is this correct? has anybody changed to something else?

i run amsoil 10w40 in my Panigale but i may be switching to either amsoil 20w50 or Motul 15w50. The Panigale comes with shell advanced 15w50 of course you cant get that in the states.

They came out with 2 new colors for the regular 2014 s1000rr. But when I spoke to my dealer who I got my '13 HP4 from, they said the '14 models were gonna be the same as '13

Doubt EXTREMELY seriously the colors will change. The colors are the trademark of the HP line.

I switched the oil to Rotella T6 5w-40 full synth with no problem. Used it previously in my CBR and have acquaintances who use it in their Hurricanes. $21 / gallon at Walmart.

colors and oil

Have not heard anything about colors....

As for the oil...I would stick with 5w40 synthetic. While it doesnt need to be the BMW Castrol the weight is something I would stay with. The BMW oil is pretty competitively priced when compared to other brands of synthetic oil. Belray, Motul, Amsoil, Motorex, etc...

i know many people that use rotella. t6 is the synthetic one and its available every where. the reason i dont use rotella is that it has no corrosion protection. im not saying its bad or will do harm but on a 25k bike i will spend the extra money. i use amsoil in my ducati. the reason i think its better than mobil 1 or castrol for the same price delivered to my door. i think motul is the best but not 5 bucks a gallon better than amsoil. my stealership uses motorex which is 1 more than motul so that one is out all together as i feel motul is the best there is

I've ran 10/40 amsoil in both my 2012 Motorsport and also my HP4. Amsoil by far out performs the Castrol oil when it comes to cooler operating temps and smoothness of the tranny. It meets all of BMW requirements as far as ratings etc.

It takes power to pump the heavier oils, I stick with the required viscosity. There are not many oils that have the JASO MA2 rating as well. Being that I like my warranty I put in the Castrol and BMW filter, save and scan receipts to a file on the computer. If BMW wants to see records, I can easily provide them.

jackson i like a lot of what you say and love the idea of scanning the receipts something i may start doing, however i just want to make something clear. the viscosity of oil being 5w 40 or 10w 40 is the same thing. they are both 40w oils. the 5w and 10w only make a difference in the cold i think its 40 degrees and below but not positive. www.bobistheoilguy.com you can read till your eyes bleed about oil. have fun reading i did till i got a headache.

I had my oil changed/service on my HP4 Comp on Friday & my stealership sales mgr tells me "You are so lucky". I asked why & he advised, they were not making comp models in 2014 only standards....

I have NO IDEA, this is accurate, but it would make sense that they are changing them in little in 2014.

Don't hold me to it... Just reporting the news.
