Project SC is on the way. Meanwhile went ahead and ordered and installed the decat hp-688 link pipe
Called my local tuner. And he said
"you just killed all the power in the bike by orderring sc project short can exhaust"
Is this true? Anyone here have any experience with SC project exhaust? According to him, de-cating the bike and having the sc project wxhaust, there wont be any back pressure and thus bike will lose most of its power.
He told me to stick with the Akra exhaust as HP4 likes the longer can for back pressure.
You might want to find a different tuner. Another member picked up an additional 3 RWHP with the SC Project and a tune on a power Commander. Don't remember the thread the original post was in but @WAfatboy confirmed it here:
His comment isn't limited to SC but short systems in general. There is less back pressure, which will cause a dip in the mid range. Interestingly, my friends and I were discussing this video.
I've pretty much read the same. BrenTune prefers the Akra long can. 3 HP on top doesn't matter if you lose midrange. Not really enough data on the SC Project. @WAfatboy never posted the dyno graph as I recall.
Before building my engine, we got the same numbers from the short Arrows GP Exhaust and my Akrapovic Evolition. Fueling was changed significantly with the short GP exhaust. Both numbers with timed cams.
On my build engine we are not able to get the same numbers.
You should be able to maintain the numbers, also during the rev range, but the bike will, in my limited experience, run a little hotter doing it.
If you are not running track with the bike, the 8hp loss you might experience will be unnoticeable! The sound will however be fantastic
