Ran at Bonneville 10 days ago, first event with 75 lbs of shot inside the swing arm. Still encountered major tire spin at 180-190 with the tach jumping 1000-1500 rpm's. So considering adding more weight(25lbs), but concerned this will make the front to light. So not wanting a high speed tank slapper, going to hold off on adding more, an take a look at the suspension. The Salt is a soft (loose) to mushy surface, thinking of setting suspension to stay soft/ mushy as well. Thinking this will allow the rear to stay down when in the "rough, uneven sections" give me just a little less spin. Traction will be the key this weekend at the BMST EVENT. Thoughts anyone ?
I can't remember if the HP4 has the high speed compression damping circuit (which has nothing to do with actual MPH, but rather the speed of the bump).. If it DOES, you might try adjusting it to a lower setting to allow the rear to move faster over the choppy, bumpy surface. And if THAT doesn't work, try going harder and see if it improves things..
I had my 2011 set for street riding to 4... It really helped the rear end soak up some of the sharper transitions and bumps when I rode on broken up country back roads..
I had the tires set ( with nitrogen) at 41 front an 37 rear. It was really chewed up with all the big boy car n truck teams. Monday afternoon, I gave up on the short an long course, long lines and slick track, so I went over to the Rookie track. Erin Sills was right ahead of me, after congratulating her for the record runs earlier I asked what she was doing over here( rookie course). She said this was the best track, and they were working on her suspension set up as well. I have plenty of HP, just trying to find TRACTION !

What have you done with your ride height??? I ask, because you can get significant weight transfer by playing with ride height... i.e lower the rear and raise the front slightly in increments and see if it helps or hinders the traction...
Have left the ride height at the stock setting, I am 185 lbs in gear. The 75 lbs I poured into the swing arm really changed the way the bike "sits"! You have to be careful wheeling/walking it around the pits or loading unloading it into the trailer, it will get away from you.
Heading back out to the Salt Flats in the morning, hopefully get thru Tech before the crowd rolls in. I have changed gearing and set the suspension up differently, the front DMP is set at 0, the back is -3 for both COM AND REB. The hope is keeping the tire on the Salt more, with less slippage/spinning. Keep you posted.
