Dumb question. Does the cover go back on? Or do you have that big hole there? What does this change do besides make it louder?

Yes the cover goes back up and I'm sure it gives the bike a bit more power since the flow is not restricted by the small hole that the silencer has Bike breath better I don't care what others say the bike feels definitely faster with it off

OK so I am assuming only the comp comes with angled valve stems. I have angled blue on my Christmas list but will have to revise if standard black wheel has angled

Both competition and std. Have the angle valve

It's a silencer, you can keep it in or take it all off. The big hole is good for performance, the silencer/cover is not as good, but quieter.
