I believe this is correct. They need to make enough to Homologate the bike for next years racing (WSBK, AMA etc)so things such as the DDC can be used in racing.

I suspect this is just for the US. BTW, in my previous life working with Deloitte, PwC and KPMG, "the whole world started and ended at the EAST and WEST coast of the USA", so based on this, your post is correct.

Check the price for the CF bottom, belly, air inlet panel thingy on the Comp version. I'm told in Australia it's worth over $4,500. US prices will probably be lower cos we generally get fist f****d up the butt by a large angry black man by everyone here in Down Under.

Based on this though, the extra $5k we pay is not too bad for the Comp version given it includes Rearsets (RRP Aus $750), levers (RRP $450).

Yes, definitely cheaper to buy as a package. The lever is cool. Carbon is not my thing, even though it looks badass!!

But performance wise, the bikes are the same.

As opposed to getting "fckd up the butt" by any man, or maybe even a Clydesdale? Would you enjoy it then?

Not sure how true this but Eric Glazer a NA BMW mentioned to me they had to produce 500 over here in the US to be able to classify it as a production bike so the technology can be used on their race bikes (DDC,Launch,ect...). I think he said 160 comps and 340 standards. Again, this is 2nd hand info so please don't attack the messenger They also say the BMW carbon fiber is exceptional quality and not like some stuff you would find in Tucker Rocky
